Kawasaki Z650 New Design & Features
- Before starting the review I want to remind you that I have already reviewed the new Kawasaki z900 2022.
- And besides this, all Ninja series bike reviews are available at PassionateCarBloggers.com.
- So let’s talk about the new 2022 Z650 and why I think that it’s a great beginner’s bike.
- while we are talking about this bike let me remind you that Kawasaki also offers Z400/Z900 & Z1000 bikes.
- So just like other Z-series bikes Kawasaki also added a Sugomi design theme to the Z650.
- In case, you don’t know what is Sugomi so it means that the predator is on the hunt.
- like when you look at the Z650 from the front it will remind you of the predator movie.
- And 2022 model is much better than the 2017 Kawasaki Z650 in terms of design and features.
- Like 2022 Z650 gets new LED headlights as we have in the new Kawasaki Z900 & halogen indicators.
- The headlights of this bike have four led chambers the upper half for the low beam & lower half for the high beam.
- and one thing that I have to address is that Z650 doesn’t have LED indicators and Kawasaki Ninja 650 also doesn’t.
- Moving on the LED tail light is the same as the other Z series bike and the Z letter pattern can be seen over it.
- The Sharp angles of the cowl, chin spoiler, and meter cover were made to give the bike an aggressive look.
- while wide shrouds boast a muscular appearance. An LED headlamp adds a distinct high-tech note.
- the nice thing about this bike is minimal bodywork & less body panel means easy to clean & maintain.
- And most of the part of the bike is visible like the Trellis frame is completely exposed & engine is as well.
- Now let’s have a look over the ergonomics of the Z650 which in my opinion great for long rides and city rides.
- The rider seat and Pillion seat are comfortable whereas the rider seat is wide and low to help the rider place their foot easily on the ground.
- Superior riding comfort extends to the passenger with thicker urethane and wide seats for increased padding and support.
- Adding comfort to the bike is a thoughtful footpeg position that offers a relaxed knee bend for rider comfort.
- A wide handlebar contributes to easy low-speed manoeuvring and better leverage for higher-speed cornering.
- Besides this, in 2022 Kawasaki has added a 4.3-inch TFT Display to this bike that is better than the 2017 model Z650.
- However just like Kawasaki Z900 there are no buttons on the left side switch gear cluster to control the TFT display.
- But two buttons are available with the screen to control the feature of TFT on the bottom side as shown in the images.
- Again clutch and brake levers are adjustable so riders can adjust them according to their needs.
- now there is a couple of things that I don’t like about the new Z650 & it’s also a problem with Ninja 650.
- it’s a huge saree guard that comes with the bike but thankfully it can be removed easily.
- on the other hand tube type, pillion grab rails look ugly and can be found on Ninja 400 as well.
- In this blog, I have shown 20+ detailed images of the Z650 so that it will be easy for you to understand the bike.
New 4.3 Inch TFT Display (Speedometer)
- This new TFT 4.3-inch display is now available with many bikes of Kawasaki like the Ninja ZX-10R and Ninja 1000 SX.
- it shows various information about the bike and its display color can be changed from white to black.
- that display shows various information about the bike so let’s have look over it.
- it shows a digital speedometer, digital bar-style tachometer, and gear position indicator.
- shift lamp, fuel gauge, odometer, dual trip meters, current, and average fuel consumption.
- remaining range, average speed, total time, coolant temperature, clock, battery voltage, Kawasaki service reminder,
- oil change reminder, and the Kawasaki Economical Riding Indicator.
Smart Phone Connectivity RIDEOLOGY App #Watch Demo#
- The Rideology app enables riders to get their bike information on their smartphone.
- Vehicle information (such as the odometer, fuel gauge, maintenance schedule, etc) can be viewed on the smartphone.
- Riders can also make changes to their motorcycle’s instrument display settings (preferred units, clock, date setting, etc) via the smartphone.
- But one thing that Kawasaki said is that all these function riders want to check only when he is not riding the bike for safety. READ MORE
Kawasaki z650 engine Performance
- So the Kawasaki Z650 powertrain is precisely the same as the fully faired Kawasaki Ninja 650 with no changes.
- And believe me, this baby Z650 accelerates like higher capacity motorcycle & and there’s no shortage of power here.
- One more thing as I said this bike is best for those who want to upgrade to a higher-capacity bike but need careful throttle response.
- And think that this naked Z650 beast is a practical and useable bike that is easy to handle as well as manoeuvre.
- Powering this bike is a 649 cc, parallel twin liquid-cooled engine that develops 68 PS of power & 64 Nm of torque.
- Besides this, this engine uses an 8-Valves DOHC setup and ø36 mm x 2 with dual throttle valves.
- A water cooler radiator is placed on the front of the engine & as this is a naked bike almost every part is exposed.
- support the engine and the other body panels is an exposed trellis frame that helps deliver light handling as shown in the image.
- Moving on to transmission its 6-speed gearbox is equipped with Assist and Slipper clutch for lighter clutch pull.
- And back-torque limiting function that helps prevent rear-wheel hop during more aggressive downshifts.
- Speaking of weight so Z650 is 191kg approx 5 kg lighter than its Fully Fairing version Ninja 650.
Kawasaki z650 mileage
- Here comes the most important factor of any bike which is mileage.
- Although it’s irrelevant to ask for mileage of superbikes because they are designed for performance.
- So I am sharing mileage figures of the bike as a rider told us Z650 delivers 23.1 kmpl overall mileage.
Mileage overall | 23.1 KMPL. |
kawasaki z650 top speed
- Top speed is yet another performance parameter of a superbike and Z650 is a street naked bike not designed for max speed.
- and I am telling you about a rider’s experience with the top speed he was riding the Z650 on the highway.
- The bike was on the sixth gear and achieving 196 kmph on the open highway & you can see it in the image I have shown.
- Although top speed can be very like if the rider is overweight and underweight and wind direction/speed etc.
0-60 kmph | 2.28 Sec |
0-100 kmph | 4.8 Sec |
Top Speed | 196 kmph. |
Kawasaki Z650 Seat Height
- When it comes to riding comfortably seat height plays an important role.
- And it makes riders able to touch their feet on the ground.
- High seat height could a problem for short riders.
- So Kawasaki Ninja Z650 comes with a 790 mm seat height great for short riders.
Seat height | 790 mm. |
Kawasaki Z650 Ground Clearance
- For ground clearance, I want to say that no matter which superbike you are riding.
- you should beware of large speed breakers & Z650 has 130 mm of ground clearance.
Ground Clearance | 130 mm. |

Kawasaki z650 colors
- Talking about colours Kawasaki is offering only one Z650 in India which is a Candy lime Green colour.
- But for the international market, Kawasaki is offering two colours Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Flat Spark Black.
- And Pearl Robotic White/Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray colour.
- Among all the colours white colours look cool and if available I will get Z650 in white colour.
Z650 50th ANNIVERSARY
- This limited-production model features unique anniversary edition styling and additional features.
- Heritage Firecracker has Red colour & graphics with dark blue and silver highlights.
- Gloss black frame finish.
- Special textured seat leather.
- Red-coloured wheels with silver pinstripes.

My opinion/Conclusion
- If you are riding 200 cc bikes for a couple of years wanted to upgrade yourself to a higher-capacity bike.
- Then believe me Z650 is a great bike in terms of performance and design.
- This bike is easy to handle and can be used as a daily commuting bike and it’s affordable as well.
- And in 2022 Kawasaki has added a couple of features to make Z650 more advanced.
Is the Ninja 650 and Z650 the same?
No, the Ninja 650 is a fully-faired sports bike mainly designed for high-speed riding. and Kawasaki Z650 is a naked bike designed for city riding and highway riding. although both the bikes have the same chassis and engine Z650 is a bit easy to use in the city. because it doesnt have full fairing and less bodywork.
Is Kawasaki Z650 a superbike?
No, Kawasaki Z650 is a naked bike which primarily designed to ride in the city and in traffic. it doesnt have full fairing and a tall windscreen wiser for aerodynamic behaviour. so this bike can’t is considered a superbike one more thing if the bike has up to a 1000 cc engine is only considered a sports bike. Kawasaki also has a larger 1000 cc bike called Z1000.
What is the mileage of the Ninja Z650 BS6?
The tested mileage of Kawasaki Z650 BS6 is 23.1kmpl. a rider shared this mileage figure with us and 23.1 kmpl mileage is ok for a 650 parallel twin engine.
Does Kawasaki Z650 have Quickshifter?
No, Kawasaki Z650 doesn’t come with a quick-shifter instead of it has a slipper and assists clutch that reduces the wheel hopping during sudden multiple downshifts at high speed. it also makes clutch pull lighter.
Is a Ninja 650r a beginner bike?
Yes, the Ninja 650r is a beginner bike but it doesn’t mean that anyone can ride this bike. means this bike is speedy and required some experience like if you are riding a KTM RC390 bike then you can ride Z650 easily but if you are riding a 100 or 200-cc bike then you need need to be careful.
In this Blog, I have tried to give as much information about z650 as possible.
If you like this blog/Article then don’t forget to share it with your friends.
