Kawasaki Ninja 400 BS6 2023 Review
- In the previous blog, I have written a review of the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
- And that was a great bike even though I have decided to get this bike for myself.
- Today I am featuring another fun-to-ride motorcycle that is Kawasaki Ninja 400 BS6 2023.
- And the most interesting thing about Ninja 400 is you can see some Ninja H2 styling on it as well.
- Besides this, the nice thing about this bike is it looks larger & almost feels like you are riding a 600 cc bike.
- Look at the front fairing of the bike looks sharp and below the headlight, some winglets kind of shape is there.
- Although, these winglets are not large in shape but may be generating some downforce.
- Speaking about headlights on Ninja 300 Kawasaki is offering dual reflector headlights.
- But thank god the company has thrown dual LED headlights with high & low beam function on both lights.
- These lights offer good visibility and offers significantly increased brightness.
- Apart from that indicators are halogen type integrated on side faring.
- It is not a good thing that a bike that cost over 4 lakh gets halogen-equipped ordinary lights.
- And this is the case with rear indicators as well but thank god Ninja 400 has LED taillights inspired by Ninja ZX-10R.
- Not let’s talk about the riding position of the bike as you can see it have a comfortable riding position.
- With a seat height of 785 mm, the rider can easily touch his feet on the ground.
- And further adding comfort to the riding position is its footpegs with a forward-oriented position.
- One thing I need to mention is the quality of footpegs is great and made up of aluminum just like Ninja ZX-10R.
- But the thing that diverts my sight is its tail section because the pillion seat is short.
- And those tube-type grab rails look ugly and when you sit on a pillion seat it will irritate you.
- I don’t know what is the need of adding these stupid grab rails on this well-finished bike.
- Ok forget it and let’s focus on what else we are going to get on this machine.
- As I said riding position is great the handlebar is positioned a bit high which gives you an upright position.
- It means you will not feel any pain in your wrist and in your back.
- I forgot to mention about a windscreen offeres good wind blast protection.
- And if it’s not enough for you the company is also offering performance accessories.
- One thing is really good about this bike and I am sure you will also agree with this.
- The overall quality of the bike is great I mean handlebar, switch gear body panel feels premium.
- The company should add all led lights, adjustable clutch & brake levers & good design grab rail.
- Because these little things are enough to spoil this great product.
Kawasaki ninja 400 Colors
- Speaking about colors, Kawasaki is offering different colors for the Indian & International variants.
- In India, Kawasaki Ninja 400 colors are LIME GREEN (KRT EDITION) & METALLIC CARBON GREY.
- But for the international markets, Kawasaki is offering three exciting colors.
- That is Pearl Blizzard white with Metallic Carbon gray.
- The second is Metallic Magnetic Dark Gray with Matte Twilight Blue.
- The third is Matrix Camo Gray with Metallic Matte Carbon Gray.
- I personally like the white and blue color of the Ninja 400.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 Specifications
- The base of this little ninja is the same as we get in the Kawasaki Ninja H2.
- Kawasaki Ninja 400 uses using tube-type trellis frame which is light in weight & offers good control & handling.
- This bike frame uses the engine as a stressed member bolted directly to the engine.
- Now Ninja 400 has plenty of performance enough to put a smile on your face.
- Powering this beast is a 399 cc parallel-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC 8-valve engine.
- It develops 44.7 bhp and 37 NM of torque and offers great performance.
- Now many people don’t know about parallel twin
- Parallel-twin engines have two cylinders connecting with the same crankshaft.
- Now the engine is the heart of any vehicle it must perform well and deliver power in a good manner.
- Believe me, Ninja 400 accelerates well no matter which gear you are in.
- And it can easily achieve a top speed of 196 kmph enough for this kind of bike.
- Besides this, the engine feels smooth and some vibration can be felt on foot pegs otherwise great bike.
- The engine is also equipped with 32 mm dual throttle bodies for precise control of the air.
- And forced lubrication wet sump type is used to ensure all parts receive proper lubricator during a ride.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 Suspension
- Now after the engine, a good suspension plays an important role in delivering a decent performance.
- Kawasaki uses a telescopic fork up front with 120 mm wheel travel.
- And mono-shocker suspension with 130 mm wheel travel at the rear.
- I think I definitely mentioned why the company is not offering upside-down (USD) forks in Ninja 400.
- I mean it’s a performance bike and ordinary forks let it down.
- Like if you see Bajaj Dominar 400 and KTM duke 390 also get USD forks.
- And these bikes are not as expensive as the Ninja 400.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 Brakes
- Now here comes the important thing the brakes.
- If you are riding a high-performance bike you need good brakes to enjoy the ride.
- The Kawasaki Ninja 400 gets Ø 310mm petal disc up front same disc size used on the Ninja ZZR1400.
- And a semi-floating 2-piston calliper offers good stopping power.
- Besides this, a rigid new front brake master cylinder helps eliminate ineffective (idle) stroke contributing to controllability.
- And at the rear, we have Ninja 400 have 220 mm with a 2-piston caliper with ABS.
- These brakes I think developed by Kawasaki itself but they can offeres Brembo brakes for more performance.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 Seat Height
- We know that a good seating position helps us to enjoy the ride.
- And Kawasaki Ninja 400 gets raised handlebar forward position foot pegs and 785 mm seat height.
- All these things deliver a good ergonomically riding position in the city and on the highway.
- And in case you are a short-height rider you will not feel any problem with it.
- Ninja 400 785 mm seat height is 5 mm higher than the one we saw on the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 Max Speed
- When it comes to max speed larger displacement bikes have a limited 299 top speed.
- Although these kinds of bikes can easily achieve 320 kmph top speed.
- Now a day smaller capacity bikes are easily achieving higher top speeds.
- This Kawasaki Ninja 400 max speed is 196 kmph easily as per user suggestion to us.
- But again there are several things that can limit the max speed of any bike light wind direction and weight etc.
- Besides this Kawasaki have one of the fasted bike in the world Ninja H2R with a 400+ kmph top speed.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 Mileage
- Mileage is the biggest factor here in India I don’t know about other countries.
- But in India people don’t hesitate to ask about mileage no matter what kind of machine is.
- And I think if somebody is getting a high-performance bike don’t think about mileage too much.
- Because it’s obvious if we are getting high performance it will automatically deliver less fuel efficiency.
- But for our viewers, I need to mention the mileage of this bike.
- So Kawasaki Ninja 400 mileage is 25 kmpl (Kilometers per liter) as user testing.
- one more thing is Kawasaki has reduced the fuel tank (14 L) capacity whereas Ninja 300 offers 17 liters fuel tank.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 Ground Clearance
- A big problem always comes with a full-fairing bike can you guess it?
- No, it’s not mileage it’s low ground clearance and it becomes worst in India.
- Because every street and road in India has large speed breakers.
- But unfortunately, you can’t do anything about it regardless of riding carefully.
- With Kawasaki Ninja 400 you will get 140 mm of ground clearance.
- It’s not much but if you ride carefully you can save your lovely bike from scraping its underbody.

Kawasaki Ninja 400 vs KTM RC 390
- If you compare Ninja 400 vs KTM RC 390 both offer similar power figures.
- Recently KTM launched its new 2023 KTM RC 390 with a completely new design.
- And KTM is offering a single cylinder 373 cc, liquid-cooled 42.9 hp, and 36 Nm of torque.
- And KTM is offering USD Forks from WP and mono-shock at the rear.
- But KTM RC 390 has an aggressive riding position and the pillion seat is not comfortable.
- Although in India KTM RC 390 is a really popular bike more than Ninja 400
- I will suggest if you want a comfortable bike that can be used for long rides choose Kawasaki Ninja 400.
- And those who want an aggressive riding position and budged bike buy KTM RC 390
Expert Opinion
- After searching and testing many things, I came up with a conclusion.
- That Ninja 400 is a great bike in terms of performance and design.
- It will definitely catch the attention of that buyer who is looking forward to an entry-level superbike.
- But I haven’t seen Ninja 400 more on the roads because it will cost more than 5 lakh rupees.
- It’s a lot of money even though KTM DUKE 390 and RC 390 come cheaper with almost similar performance.
- And there are a couple of things that make this nice product into failure.
- That is ugly-looking grab rails, smaller pillion seats, and bulb-type indicators and not offering USD forks.
- The company should focus on this thing if they wanted to make this product great.
- And if someone has already made up his mind to buy Ninja 400 they can go for it there is no problem.
