Bajaj Dominar 400 is a flagship model from Bajaj Auto, a leading two-wheeler manufacturer in India. and in this blog, you will see the 2023 model of Dominar 400 that comes with several modifications for touring. Read More
Front View.
So starting from the front, the bike is equipped with fully led headlights. The headlamp operates in four different modes – position lamp, automatic headlamp on, low beam and high beam – covering various riding and lighting needs.
I personally like the design of the headlights beside this, the turn indicators of this bike are also LED and placed above the headlights which eliminate the possibility of accidentally breaking during the ride and these indicators are small in size and offer good lumination during the ride.
LED Headlight.
The new feature that Bajaj added to the Dominar 400 is a taller windscreen which is an essential tool that is required during long rides. the need arises when the previous Dominar 400 used to come with a smaller windscreen that could not save riders from wind blasts. but that model is still available if you want.
Speaking about the front mudguard comes with dual tone design. it not only looks muscular but also creates a 3D effect that makes this bike look bulky from the front. on the other hand, a licence plate holder is provided on the front visor that not looks good in my opinion.
SIDE VIEW
One person was asking the question to me Is Dominar 400 bodymade up of plastic? so the answer is yes, the bodywork of the Dominar 400 is plastic like the front mudguard, fuel tank, side panels and tail cowl. where is the steel fuel tank hidden under the plastic cover that protects the fuel tank from damage.
Dominar 400 Charcoal Black
and you might be thinking that its body is made up of plastic so it’s not worth buying? so let me explain the reason behind making the plastic body of the bike so that the bike remains light in weight due to this acceleration, pick and mileage get improved and also easy to handle.
Besides this, Bajaj has added a new design leg guard that not only protects you but also protects the engine and radiator. whereas the previous bike was only fitted with the leg guard. and this time leg guard is modified to protect the radiator as well.
On the other hand, the touring model of the bike comes fitted metal bash plate to protect the engine from unwanted damage but the regular model of Dominar doesn’t come with a metal bash plate instead of a plastic engine cowl is there.
Dominar 400 Green Color.
No, the big change done by the Bajaj is by adding a double barrel exhaust that makes a throaty noise. whereas when Bajaj Dominar was launched in 2016 the exhaust was not up to bike level.
The last change is you will also get a luggage carrier which is bolted behind the pillion seat and it also has a cage on both sides that helps to carry saddle bags as you can see in the images. but whereas in the non-touring model, you don’t get luggage-carrying equipment.
REAR VIEW
Rear Quarter View.
Moving on to the rear, the design is pretty much the same as before, with no change here, you will get dual strip-to-type LED taillights and a wide tyre. you are not going to get a tyre hugger here. and the rest of the things you can see in the images.
SPEEDOMETER
Digital Speedometer.
The thing I don’t like about the Dominar 400 is its negative LCD display. Whereas KTM Duke 390 comes with a TFT colour display that makes the Duke look more modern and upmarket.
On the other hand, the negative display is split into two parts and the second display is placed on the fuel tank which is a bit difficult to see when you are riding the bike.
Dominar 400 display shows, the RPM meter, Speedometer, fuel level, Average fuel consumption, and service reminder and below the display there is a short display that shows the sensors icon.
Besides this, the Odo meter, trip meter, gear position and time are shown on the screen provided on the fuel tank.
HANDLEBAR & SWITCH GEARS
Switch Gear.LED Taillight.Pillion seat.
In this bike, you will get only a tube-type handlebar of high quality that gives you an upright riding position and is wide also which makes handling in city traffic quite easy.
whereas switching gear quality is impressive and all the icons on the switch gear cluster laminate make using these buttons easy when you are riding this bike at night.
On the left side switch gear cluster you get a horn, turn indicator switch, passing switch and a high-low beam switch.
whereas on the right side, you will get an engine kill switch, self-starting switch and headlight on/off switch. on the other hand, side mirrors are of good quality look stylish and offer a good view behind you. and for your understanding, we have shown several images.
Bajaj Dominar 400: Engine and Performance
Engine
6-speed gear
Metal Bash plate
The new 2023 Bajaj Dominar 400 is supported by a solid-built Twin-spar perimeter frame A reinforced perimeter frame provides torsional rigidity and lateral strength for superior handling. it’s painted in black colour. Along with it, a heavy swing arm is connected to the frame holding the rear wheel. Read More
Believe me, the bike feels solid when you ride it. on the other hand, bajaj is using a Single cylinder, 4 strokes, DOHC, 4 Valve, Liquid Cooled, Triple Spark, FI engine of 373.3 cc that generates 39.4 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox that offers smooth and precise shifting. The bike can reach a top speed of 165 km/h and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds.
Up front of the engine a water radiator is placed that cools the engine by circulating coolant around the engine cylinder and to maximise the cooling efficiency a small fan is fitted behind the radiator that keeps the engine temperature low and gives you the freedom to ride this bike throughout the day.
This engine is controlled by a Ride-By-Wire system which is no mechanical wire controlling the throttle plate instead of a motor and a sensor is doing work with the help of the ECM.
Besides this, this bike engine comes equipped with a Wet, Multiplate with Assist & Slipper Clutch that helps the rider to make multiple downshifts without hopping the rear wheel. and also reduce the effort to pull the clutch.
Bajaj Dominar comes with a self-starter and no kick is available with it. and no main stand is provided by the company. only the side stand is there. and an engine cut-off sensor is provided so as you shift the gear without releasing the stand engine will get off.
Bajaj Dominar 400: Riding Experience
Riding Bajaj Dominar 400 is a thrilling experience. The bike is designed for long-distance touring and offers excellent stability and handling. The USD forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear provide a comfortable ride, even on rough terrains. Read More
The bike’s ergonomics are well-designed, ensuring a comfortable riding position for long hours. and seats are well padded so you don’t feel soreness on your butt. and there is enough space on the seat for the rider and pillion.
Rear Wheel.
Front Wheel.
With the Touring model, Dominar 400 comes with a bungee chord to tie the luggage also a tiny back support is provided behind the pillion seat just to give support when you are riding the bike.
The bike brakes are highly responsive and come with dual-channel ABS, ensuring maximum safety while braking. The bike’s wide and grippy tires provide excellent traction, even on wet roads.
Can I ride Bajaj Dominar 400 in the city?
Yes, you can ride this bike in the city. but Dominar 400 is a fairly big bike and the handle is wide also it’s heavy in weight so it’s not an easy task to ride this bike in the city, especially in the traffic. and if you want a city dominated the 250cc is quite good for the city.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Fuel Economy
Talking about fuel economy I am sharing a rider’s experience he was riding the Dominar 400 on the highway for over 70 km/h continuously and he achieved a mileage of 25.16kmpl.
whereas during mixed riding conditions like for a while riding the traffic and on the highway bike achieved 37.6 km/l mileage.
