Introduction (Official Tata Website)/HD Images
- Tata revealed its All-Electric Nexon EV on 19 Dec 2019.
- This Electric SUV shared the same dimension and design just like ICE-powered Nexon.
- And Tata is claiming a 312 km driving range on a single charge.
- Powering this electric SUV is a 30.2kWh high energy density lithium-ion battery pack by Ziptron.
- Tata Nexon will compete with Hyundai Kona Electric & MG ZEV.
Exterior Design Tata Nexon EV (Watch Demo)
- I have already published a brief design article on Tata Nexon.
- And Nexon EV shares the same design as the standard Nexon.
- In this article, I will share only share the important detail of Nexon EV
- The front design of the Tata Nexon EV is exactly the same as the standard Nexon.
- But the thing that makes Nexon EV look different is the Electric blue
- Blue accent can be found on the humanity line, side beltline, and on X-factor.
- In addition, C shaped element around fog lights also comes with blue accents.
- Because this blue color is the color of electricity and Nexon EV is a fully electric SUV.
- Talking about lights you will get LED projector headlights with Tri-Arrow DRLs.
- And Fog lamp is a halogen unit that features cornering
- One more thing the headlights also have an auto-on/off feature.
- Apart from that Now EV logo with a blue accent is now placed on the front piano
- To make it recognizable that it’s an electric vehicle.
- Apart from this lower bumper grill has a Tri-Arrow design with Blue colour highlights.
- Moving on to the side you will get door-side body cladding to prevent the car from scratching.
- On the rear Nexon EV has Ziptron & EV badging that differentiate it from Nexon.
- But one this you will definitely miss is an exhaust tailpipe.

Tata Nexon EV Interior Design
- When you step inside the car you will find Tri-Arrow-themed interiors.
- With a blue accent around air condition vents to remind you that it’s an electric vehicle.
- On the other hand, Nexon EV comes with a Tritone dashboard.
- The top portion of the dashboard is black and from the bottom, it’s of beige color.
- And on the centre, it comes with a black piano finish.
- Apart from this centre console also has a black piano finish.
- On the centre of the console of the Tata Nexon EV, you will not find any gear stick.
- Instead of a gear stick, Nexon EV comes with a rotary mode selector.
- With a cup and can holder on the center console for your convenience.
- Other than this Tata has provided a 1 L bottle holder in all doors.
- In addition on the front door, there is a space for an Umbrella holder as well.
- This Nexon EV XZ+ Lux model comes with leatherette seats.
- And Nexon EV XM & XZ+ models come with fabric seats with Tri-Arrow
- Rear seats also feature a central armrest with 2 Cupholders
- On the other hand, the steering is wrapped in leather on all models.
Nexon EV Dark Edition
- Nexon EV is also available in the Dark edition with few interior and exterior changes.
- That is Nexon EV Dark comes with a Satin Black beltline rather than a Blue accent.
- The humanity line also comes satin black but EV badging remains in Blue color.
- On the other hand, the C-shaped element around fog lamps and the Tri-Arrow grill remains in blue color.
- Other than this front skid plate comes with a satin black
- The alloy wheels of Nexon EV Dark come with a charcoal grey colour to match the dark theme.
- On the side of the car, you will get the # Dark badge and EV badge in blue colour.
- Let’s move on to the rear X-factor panel that comes in metallic black.
Dark Edition interior
- As we know that it’s a dark edition so when you step inside the car.
- You will really like to see every inch of the interior is in dark color.
- Although the blue accent remains the same on AC vents and on around the instrument cluster.
- Talking about seats them of black colour with Tri-Arrow pattern.
- Seats are wrapped in leatherette means it’s a kind of fake leather.

Electric Motor and Lithium-Ion Battery Nexon EV
- Tata Nexon EV has one permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front.
- And under the hood, you will get an onboard charger DC to DC converter with the distributor.
- This electric SUV is a front-wheel drive with 1-speed transmission.
- On the other hand, the battery is placed under the floor and the battery weighs nearly 230kg.
- Tata called this battery Ziptron this battery contains many lithium-ion batteries.
- That is connected to each other & Nexon’s battery also features liquid cooling
- On the other hand, when Tata was designing the battery a problem comes in.
- That is can this lithium-ion battery performs in rainy conditions.
- So to solve this problem Tata engineers sealed the battery to protect it from dust and water.
- Now this lithium-ion battery future proof IP67 certified battery.
- And can stay inside the 1-meter deep water for 30 mins.
- Talking about Nexon battery charging with regular charging 15 AMP plug point.
- It takes 5 hours from 10% to 90% and from the fast charger, it takes CCS 2 0% to 80% in 60 Min.
Driving Experience Nexon EV
- Driving experience to Nexon EV is NexLevel you will not feel any vibrations in the car.
- This electric SUV produces 129 hp and 245 Nm of torque that is available instantly during acceleration.
- But one thing you may not like about this car is its top speed.
- Tata Nexon’s EV has a top speed of only 120 Km/h it’s due to its battery range.
- On the other hand, Tata is claiming 312 km of millage on a single charge.
- But this 312 km range you will get on the cities, not on the highway.
- Nexon EV also has a smart regenerative braking system, hill ascent, and hill descent
- Talking about battery and motor warranty it’s 8 years/1.6 lakh km.
