TVS XL100: The Most Affordable 2 Wheeler In India

Now the question arises Why we are talking about these mopeds? It’s because these are the only two-wheelers in India that are not only affordable but fuel efficient as well and Company has now added new features to them to make them more useable than before.

For 2023 TVS Moped XL 100 will come fitted with DRLs which are mounted below the headlights it’s done because as we know DRLs are now getting premium features of the 2-wheelers. besides this, the headlight design remains ordinary company is still manufacturing its moped with halogen reflector-type headlights.

which I think is easy to replace and repair and helps to keep costs low the side turn indicators are also halogen type but these indicators are flexible which means if in case your moped falls down your indicators will not break easily.

Now, what the company has done here this time a headlight cowl is provided along with the visor to make this Moped look more premium but this Visor only comes with the TVS XL100 Comfort i-Touch Start models. if you get a non-touch start model you will not get a front visor.

Slightly moving down you will see a slim mudguard of metal housing the slimmer wheel and you dont get any alloy wheel instead you will get a spoke wheel with a chrome finish. and the advantage of having a spoke wheel is it can absorb sudden jerks and shock efficiently and can be repaired easily.

moving on the side of the TVS XL100 Comfort you will see its design is not like the bike or like the regular moped. like you have a verticle fuel tank, a flat floor to carry luggage and an engine placed below the floorboard engine is mounted. and due to this reason, the floorboard is high in the 2-wheeler.

Besides this, the company has provided a small space to carry tools near the floorboard below the rider’s seat. moving on to seats. the TVS XL100 Comfort comes with a dual-tone long single seat with a backrest for the pillion. and believe me, the seats of this vehicle are really comfortable and it is made up of thick foam.

and three guys can easily sit on it. and in case you are travelling with your family it has more than enough space as compared to the bike. on the other hand, it has good quality foot pegs for the rider and pillion. and a long bike-like exhaust with a chrome cover. and due to this chrome colour, it looks really premium.

The nice thing about this tvs moped bike is its body panels are made up of metal not plastic, like the front mudguard, rear mudguard, fuel tank and floorboard panels. now moving on to the left side of this moped you will see the chain sprocket covered by the fibre plastic cover and you will get a side stand and main stand with this vehicle.

Moving on to the rear you will get a halogen taillight and flexible indicators and a license plate holder is also there. and the rest of the things you can see in the images we have shown in this blog.

So the first change is you dont get any chrome finish on some parts like the exhaust cover, shock absorber springs, and backrest pipe. Where’s the top model Comfort has a chrome finish on these parts.

The second change is on in the base model front headlight cowl and visor which is missing in this model it’s done to keep the cost low. but you will get the same headlights, DRLs and turn indicators as we have in the top model.

The third change is one touch start is not available with this model instead this company has provided a kick with this model.

The fourth change is in the colors with the base model of XL 100 Comfort you have a choice of two color which is Grey Black and Red Black.

NOTE:- Except for four changes the rest of the thing is the same as the Top model XL 100 Comfort i-Touch Start.

HANDLEBAR & SWITCH GEARS

As this is a lightweight moped and primarily designed for city use and to carry luggage you are not going to get a clip-on handlebar. the handle here is quite different as compared to other bikes. it has raised tube-type handlebar which is ergonomically designed and keeps you comfortable through the journey.

On the other hand, a cross-tube bolted to the handlebar with a hook to hang bags. now move on to switch gears you will get decent quality switch gear here on the left side Headlight on/off, horn, turn indicators switch is provided and on the left side one touch engine start/stop switch is provided just like bikes.

and I am amazed to see this one-touch start only comes with high-end bikes. Besides these brake levers are also of decent quality because it’s an automatic bike so the place of the clutch company has provided a rear brake and on the right side it’s the front brake.

SPEEDOMETER

Well, the speedometer of this bike is not high tech you will get a tiny analog speedometer on the left side and on the right side some indicators, high beam and engine malfunctioning indications are provided.

below the speedometer, a reserve indicator is provided and it glows up when your fuel comes to reserve. TVS XL100 Comfort i-Touchstart comes with 4 litres of fuel tank capacity on which 1.3 Liters remain reserved.

On the right side, a hazard indicator warning is provided. now the nice thing about this moped is USB also comes by default it’s located below the speedometer. and the rest of the things you can see in the images.

TVS XL 100 comfort colour options

Currently, TVS XL100 is available in four different colours which are Coral Silk, Mint Blue, Sparkling Silver and Luster Gold. In this blog, we have shown the Luster Gold and Mint Blue.

I personally like the Lusture gold colour and it looks premium in this colour.

Starting from the front the design is the same as the TVS XL 100 Comfort but the difference is with the TVS XL100 Heavy duty you dont get any front cowl and visor and the rest of the thing is the same like headlights, turn indicators and DRLs.

The change you will see on the front forks the Heavy-duty models’ front forks are equipped with a rubber boot that saves the front suspension from dust & dirt which helps to increase the life of the front suspension. the front mudguard is made up of meta wheels and the brakes are also the same here.

Besides this, the fuel tank, and floorboard wheels are identicle across all the models of TVS XL100. but here in the heavy-duty model’s company has tried to keep its old classic styling with the help of graphics and on the side of the floorboard, a sticker of Heavy-duty XL 100 is pasted to remind you that it is a heavy-duty model.

On the other hand, the company has not used lots of chrome finish over various parts of the body instead of this powder coating is done. it’s because it’s difficult to keep chrome clean and free from scratches and powder coating saves metal parts from rusting which usually happens in the rainy season.

On the other hand, to make this moped really heavy duty the seat is divided into two pieces and the rear half seat can be removed easily to accommodate luggage and to fit the container box. there is no backrest provided either because it’s primarily designed for luggage.

And there are a couple of hooks provided in this model to tie the luggage. and the rest of the thing is the same as the other models.

TVS XL100 Heavy Duty i-Touch Start

This model comes with a smart self-starting system and you can easily identify this model by looking at the right side grip. company has provided a single button for engine ON/Off & Start. so you need to press the button and the engine will start silently.

It’s because the engine starter motor is integrated into the engine and is directly mounted on the crankshaft I do two works first it starts the vehicle and second it charges the battery when the engine gets started.

TVS XL100 Heavy Duty I Touch Start Win Edition

This winning edition of TVS XL100 is a more premium version of the regular heavy-duty model. it consists of new colour, graphics, seats etc. It comes in two colours only which are delight blue and beaver brown.

Besides this, the company has used chrome on various parts of the body like the rearview mirror, shock absorber and exhaust cover. that makes it look more premium than the regular model.

Talking about seats you will get dual dual-tone seat cover of synthetic leather and the rear seat can be removed in case you want to carry luggage etc. It also has a smart self-start system. and the rest of the thing is the same as before.

One more thing all the TVS XL100 models like Heavy Duty and Comfort come with the same 99.7cc 4-stroke single cylinder 2-valve forced air-cooled engine that pumps 4.3 bhp and 6.5 nm of torque and it has single speed transmission and a centrifugal clutch.

It means just start the vehicle and twist the throttle there is no need to shift the gear. besides this power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a chain sprocket arrangement. on the other hand, it comes with an integrated self-starter motor.

that means the starter motor is installed inside the engine on the crankshaft. this arrangement eliminates gear drive and external motor installation. As a result, the bike starts smoothly and efficiently. and after starting the engine the motor acts as a battery charger. this technology is called i-Touch Start.

SUSPENSION

Talking about suspension as this bike is designed for carrying a load a soft suspension could be a problem so it has telescopic forks up front and a swing arm hydraulic shocker at the rear which which are designed stiffer.

So dont expect a comfortable smooth ride as this is a heavy-duty vehicle.

BRAKES

It comes with the drum brakes both front and rear it has a 110 mm drum with a combined braking system to eliminate wheel skidding during sudden braking.

The brakes are decent I would not say they are sharp and has good bite but considering the speed and size of this bike they are acceptable.

How it’s like to ride a TVS XL100?

Well if you are upgrading from cycle then you will enjoy it. and if you have already used any bike then you are going to feel under power because its engine only produces 4 bhp. and this bike feels lethargic when you accelerate this bike.

it feels so because it’s designed to pull heavy loads on any kind of terrain. yes, you can remove the pillion seat and carry up to 130 kg load on it. The bike itself weighs 89 kg. and you can literally ride this bike all day long as you dont need to shift gears.

honestly, if you are riding this TVS XL100 in the city you will enjoy it because it is light in weight, easy to handle, has no need to shift gear and can carry weight along with you. Besides this to start the engine company has provided a kick.

Now the thing I dont like about this TVS moped is it doesnt get LED Headlights, taillight and indicators. although LED Drl is mounted below the headlights. If you are paying more the Rs 50,000/-. on the other hand brakes quality and switch gear quality should be improved.

Now if you are using a cycle and wanted to upgrade yourself and want to buy a bike that can fit in your tight budget and can give more mileage then you can buy a TVS XL100 comfort model and you also have a kick and self-start option.

On the other hand, if you are a shopkeeper or a Zomato delivery boy etc then I must say you should buy a TVS XL100 Heavy duty model and in this model, you also have a self-start and kickstart system.

I personally like this vehicle and I recommend you if you buy this bike or moped it will give you excellent mileage, easy handling and great looks. One more thing if you want to ride this moped on long routes then I must say this TVS XL 100 is capable of doing this. The only disadvantage here is your top speed is limited to 60 km/r. if this speed is not your problem then it’s a great 2-wheeler.
