• Today’s retro-styled bikes are getting popular and with modern touches & buyers love them.
• And especially in India, people love Harley Davidson bikes but they are expensive and few people are able to buy them.
• So Kawasaki came up with a retro-styled bike with modern features at an affordable price.
• Yes, I am talking about the Kawasaki Z650RS which is exactly the same as the new Z650 Naked.

• Same in the sense the chassis, Engine, Suspension & brakes are exactly the same as the naked Z650 bike.
• And new 2022 Kawasaki Z650RS is inspired by the 1977 kz650 and the new 2022 Naked Z650.
• So I will take you through each and every detail of this modern retro bike so let’s start.
• As usual, I am starting from the front Kawasaki has featured a round headlight with chrome around it.
• And we know that rounded headlight was a design features of 90’s and 80’s bikes.

• This round headlight has LED and two chambers are there for high and low beams.
• Moving on to rear a old styled LED taillight enhances the retro look & indicators are also LED.
• The second thing that the company has added in Z650RS to enhance the retro look is an analog speedo & tacho meter.
• Personally, I love analogue speedo and tachometer because they are simple and easy to read.
• The left side dial shows speed and the right side dial shows RPM and in between the two dials, there is a multifunction LCD screen.

• That shows gear position, fuel level, engine temp, trip meter, distance covered, etc.
• So here the modern touch is adding an LCD screen that is easy to read and also looks fantastic.
• But one thing I have to add and personally I feel that Z650RS should have is Bluetooth connectivity.
• Let’s move towards handlebar which is exactly the same as the regular Naked Z650.
• But if you look closely at the left-hand side grip switch gear cluster you will find navigation buttons.

• Because Z650 RS doesn’t come with TFT Display so it doesn’t have any dedicated buttons.
• Instead of this, there is an up/down button to control the small LCD display screen.
• Another design element without which a bike can never look retro at any cost.
• Its fuel tank as you can see in the images looks smaller and rounded from all sides.
• Looks great but it holds only 12 liters of fuel instead of 15 liters as we have in the naked Z650 bike.

• Moving toward the last design element is the tail section which has a compact design creating a retro look.
• So all these designs we have into the Kawasaki Z650Rs retro and believe me the fit and finish are great.
• I forgot to mention alloy wheels and trust me wheels looks awesome & with golden color looks really impressive.
• Kawasaki’s original cast wheels feature a flat-spoke design meant to resemble classic wire-spoked wheels.

• The wheels are both stylish and lightweight, contributing to both handling and design.
• So that’s all about the design of the new retro Z650 RS and i have shown many pictures of Z650 for you.
• Because pictures help us to understand better whatever we are seeing.

Kawasaki Z650RS Colors

• Above we talked about the design of the bike but there is another thing that most of people will love it..
• I am talking about colors and Kawasaki is currently offering two colors with the Z650RS.
• These colors are Candy Emerald Green and Metallic Moonlight Grey.
• Personally i like the Candy Emerald green because with Golden rims look really attractive.
• When i saw the Z650RS for the first time it was difficult for me to move my eyes from the bike.
• And Metallic Moonlight gray is also great and i have shown the images of both colours.

Engine Performance of Kawasaki Z650RS

• We have talked lot of about the design and features now lets have a look over the engine performance.
• But i am wondering if is it really worth talking about its engine performance because it’s the same as the Naked Z650.
• Powering this Kawasaki Z650RS is a parallel twin, liquid-cooled, four-stroke DOHC 8-valve engine.
• That develops 68 PS of power and 64.0 NM of torque coupled with a 6-speed gearbox.
• Besides this, an Assist and slipper clutch is provided to efficiently deliver the power to the wheel.
• That not only makes the clutch lever lighter to pull but also prevents wheel chattering during aggressive downshifts.

• Now Kawasaki said that under engine muffler improves mass centralization & lowers the bike’s center of gravity.
• But i am saying that the centre of gravity is ok but the bike can easily touch the breaker during ride.
• And mufflers will get damaged easily & especially in India road conditions are not for this kind of bike.
• Besides this, power delivery is impressive especially initially and in the mid-range & there is no problem on top range also.
• The engine feels smoother to ride and the comfortable riding position adds everyday useability factor to the bike.
• Talking about chassis Z650RS its uses a trellis lightweight frame using the engine as a stress member.

• In the above paragraph, I talked about engine power and performance.
• Now have a look over the mileage performance of the bike & i am sharing a rider experience with you.
• The Kawasaki Z650RS delivered 19 kmpl in the city and 21 kmpl on the highway as per our test.
• And Mileage figures can differ according to the riding condition & riding style.

Kawasaki Z650RS Ground Clearance

• This bike has one disadvantage which is only 125 mm less than the naked version.

Kawasaki Z650RS Seat Height & Ergonomics

• The wide handlebar with stepped seat and with low seat height & relaxed footpegs position.
• Allows a neutral and comfortable riding position that helps riders on long rides.
• And seat height of the Kawasaki Z650RS is 800 mm which is 10 mm higher than the Naked Z650.
• But one thing i need to mention for the new buyers is that the rider seat is wide and comfortable.
• Whereas the pillion seat is tapered and shorter not ideal for long rides.

• As Z650RS is a retro bike designed for relaxed cruising and for the city.
• Because the aerodynamics of this bike do not allow to hit maximum speed.
• Just because of you, I am sharing a rider experience about its top speed.
• As you can see in the image I have posted Kawasaki Z650RS achieving 170 kmph top speed.

More Affordable 650CC Bike than Kawasaki Z650 RS.

• I am talking about Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 which is available at half of the price of Z650RS.
• And offers a comfortable riding position, a Modern retro look and a Dual Exhaust design.
• RE Interceptor GT650 features a modern retro style and is available in various colour options.
• Interceptor 650 doesn’t have LED lights nor any high tech features.
• This bike is using 648cc Parallel Twin engine, 4 4-stroke DOHC oil/air-cooled engine.
• That develops 47 BHP and 52 Nm of torque & a 6-speed transmission comes with it.
• Mileage is also impressive at 34.64 kmpl on the highway and 163 kmph top speed.
• Yes RE Interceptor 650 is less powerful but its offering impressive mileage and decent performance.

My Opinion About the Z650RS.

• The Kawasaki Z650RS is only for those who want to buy a proper retro bike with performance.
• And if the retro design is not your choice you should buy Naked Z650 which has some more features.
• Now if you still want to buy the retro bike at an affordable price then you should consider RE Interceptor 650.
