Bajaj Maxima X wide: DESIGN

Bajaj Maxima is probably one of the most popular autorickshaws in the Indian market. and I am sure you haven’t seen another autorickshaw popular than this. Bajaj Maxima comes in several options like Cargo, Passenger Z & x.
On the other hand, this auto rickshaw is also available with CNG/Diesel and LPG whereas CNG and LPG come fitted with a petrol tank as these rikshaws are bi-fuel.

Because it’s reasonably fast and compact it makes it easy to take the auto in a congested place. but modern autos are now equipped with new features and designs. although the basic design is still the same as we used to see in 2004-2015 company has improved their auto rikshaws to make them more comfortable and look premium as well.
So in 2023, the basic design is the same front fascia of the Maxima auto. it has a curved front design on which the curved front windshield is fitted with wipers. and single-rounded headlight which is used to remain mounted on the front mudguard.
Is now placed below the windshield. you will get two rounded halogen-equipped headlights fitted over plastic panels. these black colour plastic panels cover the necessary electrical wiring. and also makes the Maxima 2023 look sporty & modern.

On the other hand below the headlights, the company has provided halogen-equipped indicators. and there is no LED lights option available here. The company should provide LED lights to make their modern auto rikshaw more modern and appealing.

They used to come with wide open areas and there are still no doors for the passengers. when you see this Maxima X wide three-wheeler you will see that it’s longer and wider than the Maxima Z and RE models. As a result, it has ample legroom and headroom.

As this is a three-wheeler it has a compact engine that is mounted on the rear and can be easily accessed by a mechanic. for a couple of years engine used to come under the driver’s seat. on the other hand for engine breathing a snorkel is attached to the rear side behind the rear passenger seat.

Some auxiliary switches are also provided for extra accessories and you can switch this Maxima auto from petrol to CNG via a bottom which is located below the handlebar as you can in the images.
Besides this, this auto rikshaw offers you an ergonomically designed handlebar, with old school hand-operated gear shift on the left side and on the right side is an accelerator and you will get a brake pedal on the floor which applies brakes on each of three wheels.

How to reverse an auto rikshaw?
Brakes/Hand brake and reverse lever.
To reverse an auto rikshaw (Bajaj Maxima) a lever remains provided below the handlebar, in some old models it remains provided on the right/left side of the driver’s seat pull that lever engage into first gear and apply the light throttle and your rikshaw will move to reverse automatically & vice versa.

driver seat has decent comfort but you cannot recline that it’s fixed. backrest remains at 90 degrees. one thing I have noticed is if you are a healthy/fat guy and also a taller guy it will be difficult for you to drive an auto for long distances. you will require some rest.
Under the driver seat, two CNG tanks are installed which are fully covered by well-designed plastic panels. Moving on to the rear passenger seat. these seats have decent comfort not great but offer ample headroom and legroom.
One thing I didn’t like about these three-wheelers is that the company doesnt provide any carpet for the floor its a necessary part it helps keep the floor clean and it’s easy to clean as well. Besides this on the back side, you will get a side facing two seats.
And these seats are good for short-height people only and better use is to carry luggage in it. That is all about the Maxima X wide.

This auto rikshaw is probably the highest-selling compact rikshaw I believe. because I have seen many of these on the road. It may be because is compact and cheaper than the Maxima X wide. and after installing seats to the rear part you can actually carry 2-3 passengers more and can earn more like the Maxima X wide. On the other, the exterior design is almost the same from the front and on the side but you will see the rear design is different than the X wide. The Bajaj Maxima Z 2023 comes with two colour options: black/yellow and green-yellow. below the windscreen the would be green or black but above the windshield, you will get only yellow colour.
So the features you will get with Maxima Z will be wipers (single) without a washer, dual halogen rounded headlights, and halogen-equipped side indicators. and in between the headlights, there is a plastic cover that has a Bajaj Maxima logo.

And the rest of the design is the same as the other Maxima models. and the company has made the front portion a bit round to increase aerodynamic efficiency. and I have seen that whenever a customer buys one of these autos that gets installed after market front guard and side guard to protect their rikshaw from accidents.
although this kind of guard is made by iron angles with the help of welding. Now moving to the side of this autorickshaw the design is a bit different from the rear as you can see the Maxima Z has a short rear overhang and a compact design as compared to the Maxima Xwide model.

In this Z model you do get doors on both sides for the rear passengers and coming in or out is a bit easy in the model because it’s not very high from the ground.
Now moving to the rear the design is more compact and there is little space for carrying luggage but most people usually get handbuild seats installed to carry more people and earn more money. but it’s really dangerous and unsafe as well.
CNG is fitted under the driver seat.
Talights are placed high from the ground. and to access the engine the engine cover can be opened easily by rotating the knob that’s all about the rear design and you can see the rest of the things in the images we have shown here.

The interior design is the same as the X-wide model. This Z model offers you a beige and black interior the dashboard comes fitted with a Speedometer analogue type, trip meter, fuel level and warnings all these things come in a single instrument cluster. Read More

Before this speedometer was placed on the left side in a round design and on the right side there were some warnings and indicators shown as shown in the images. you will get a similar handlebar with a gearshifting mechanism on the left side and an accelerator on the right side.
but there is no brake lever offered on the right side as it used to come in the old model’s autorickshaw. on the left side switchgear cluster you will get turn indicators and a high/low beam switch and on the right side, you will get a wiper, headlight and horn switch.

Talking about seats you will get well-cousioned seats for the driver and passengers. I must say auto rikshaw seats remain fixed and offer an uncomfortable experience. while on the other hand, passenger seats are decent and good for short rides.
Besides this, the entire roof cage is covered by a plastic canopy which gives you decent protection from rain and sunlight.
What colours do we get with the Bajaj Maxima X & Z?
Both the models Bajaj Maxima Z and X Wide come with three models CNG/Diesel/LPG. Bajaj Maxima CNG & LPG comes in three colours Eco Green, Black-Yellow and Golden Yellow.
Whereas Bajaj Maxima Diesel comes with only two colours Black-Yellow and Golden-Yellow as you can see in the images.
combination of green-yellow is quite popular in north India and golden-yellow is popular in south India.

This Bajaj RE compact is a bit smaller variant that comes before the Maxima Z. Although it looks almost similar in design to the Maxima Z it has compact dimensions. this auto rikshaw is a bit more popular than the other Bajaj auto rikshaw.
Because it is to drive in congested place and requires less area for the parking and of course it cheaper than the other models.

So let’s have a look at how this RE compact model looks from the outside? So from the outside, separating this model from the other maxima models is difficult. on thing is there which helps you identify that with the Maxima model, you will get a Bajaj Maxima badging upfront and with the compact model, you will get a Bajaj RE badging upfront. On the other, the rest of the thing is the same upfront like it also has dual halogen rounded headlights and halogen indicators. and a single wiper on the curved windscreen.
Moving on to the right you will see it has shorter dimensions and the roof is curved from the rear. company has also provided a door for the rear passengers for safety purposes and the roof is made of a canopy. actually, the canopy is covering the safety cage and it’s a cheaper setup as well.

Besides this, ingress and egress are quite easy considering their price. now moving on to the rear you will see that you dont get enough space here to add additional seats. instead of seats, you can use it for carrying luggage.

Now moving to the rear you will get a seat that can accommodate up to 4 passengers along with their luggage. and seats are quite comfortable for shorter rides. and driver seat is also decently comfortable but doesnt provide good comfort.

Petrol-Cng engine bajaj maxima Z.
These engines are single-cylinderair-cooled engines, and an oil cooler comes fitted with it for better heat management. and these engines are E20-supportive now. you will get two valves and a single camshaft unit on petrol and diesel engines.
these engines perform really well on the roads. we have seen that these auto rikshaws are designed to carry 4 people with luggage but people are carrying loads more than their capacity like 6-7 people. so we can consider that engines are performing really well.
Feels smooth, the pickup is great and equipped with a modern fuel injection system. and the engines come fitted on the rear wheels transferring the power to the rear wheel via CV shafts. and it’s easy to access the engine because there is sufficient space at the rear. One more thing you will get either a 4 or 5-speed gearbox with the Bajaj maxima.
And better pulling power company is using single plate diaphragm dry clutch just like cars.
Which auto rikshaw is best for me?
Let me tell you one thing all the models are equipped with new engines and new interior and all the models performs well.
For Rural Areas
Maxima X-wide.
So if you are living in a rural area and your area has less population also you have enough parking area then I will suggest you buy the Maxima X-wide because it comes with a large passenger area and can carry more people as compared to other Bajaj models. and you can select petrol and diesel engines with this.
For City use
Maxima Z.
On the other hand, you can buy the Bajaj Maxima Z if you are living in a medium-populated city because it is compact in size and can carry 2-3 people more than the RE compact. it also comes with petrol and diesel options.
For densely populated cities
Bajaj RE-Compact.
And if you are living in densely populated cities like Delhi NCR where you have very tight space for parking and great traffic jams then Bajaj RE compact is best for you because it has compact dimensions which makes it able to go in congested areas.
